Each member of a ClerkDirect workspace has one role. Roles control workspace-wide access, not a person’s job title. Choose the role based on the work the member needs to do.
Administrator
Administrators have full access to the workspace and every meeting workflow.
Create, edit, and publish meetings, agendas, motions, files, and official notes.
Manage boards, rosters, attendance, templates, integrations, and workspace settings.
Invite or remove members and change their roles.
Create, edit, activate, pause, run, and delete Task Schedules.
Start and run live meetings, use presenter mode, and take over a meeting from another operator.
End another operator’s live meeting without taking it over.
Access private sessions and their files.
Keep the number of Administrators small. This role is best for people responsible for both meeting work and workspace administration.
Meeting Manager
Meeting Managers can prepare, run, and publish meetings without controlling workspace administration.
Create, edit, and publish meetings, agendas, motions, files, and official notes.
Manage boards, rosters, and attendance.
Create, edit, activate, pause, run, and delete Task Schedules.
Start and run live meetings, use presenter mode, and take over a meeting from another operator.
Access private sessions and their files.
Record votes for the meeting body.
Meeting Managers cannot invite or remove members, change roles, or manage workspace settings, integrations, or templates.
Participant
Participants have read-only access to meeting content available to them.
View public meeting content and files.
Record their own vote when voting is used.
Receive task assignments, update assigned work, and use task comments.
Participants cannot create, edit, or publish meeting content; manage boards or attendance; access private sessions; start, run, or take over a live meeting; or create and manage Task Schedules.
How live meeting control works
Only one person controls a live meeting at a time. The Administrator or Meeting Manager who starts the meeting becomes its owner.
Another Administrator or Meeting Manager can choose Take over meeting. The previous operator becomes read-only.
A recording running in the previous operator’s browser cannot transfer to another computer. The new owner must start a new recording.
Recordings already saved remain attached to the meeting.
Administrators can also end another operator’s meeting without taking control.
Quick comparison
Administrator: Meeting and workspace administration, including Task Schedules.
Meeting Manager: Meeting management and Task Schedules without workspace administration.
Participant: Meeting read access, voting, and assigned task work.
